Heathcoat CC help Earthquake twins

Heathcoat CC from Tiverton has been twinned to Heathcote CC in New Zealand for several years. It was a great shock to hear of the devastation which was caused to the NZ club when the second Christchurch earthquake hit in February this year . Much of the pavilion was damaged; the training areas and nets were left buckled and unplayable.  As the quake hit in the winter months Heathcotes were determined to be ready for business in the 2012 season and so started an appeal. Legendary NZ cricketer Sir Richard Hadlee joined the appeal as did former member and Rugby star Aaron Mauger who played for the all Blacks. Naturally Heathcots from UK have joined the appeal and have raised over NZ$ 400 for the cause. Pictured is Heathcoat CC president Alistair Deighton Gibson presenting a signed bat to Mr Hartley and son Rocco who drew the winning ticket in a raffle. The bat was kindly donated and signed by the Somerset County team.  If anyone would like to send a donation to Heathcote CC please visit their website where further information can be found.
